United Kingdom - Royal Mail Strike - Impact on Deliveries

By PDC 23 August 2022

Royal Mail Communication:

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take strike action on 26 and 31 August and the 8 and 9 September 2022.

We’re really sorry for the disruption that this strike action is likely to cause to you. We want to reassure you we will do everything we can to minimise disruption and get our services back to normal as quickly as possible.

Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but they cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce. We will be doing what we can to keep services running, but customers should expect significant disruption.

How does it affect your PDC delivery?

PDC UK is reliant on Royal Mail for the majority of the parcels sent out every day. You can therefore expect disruption and extension of delivery capability during and immediately after those strike days. Royal Mail should provide further details and updates in the following days. Here is their official communication page.

Alternatively, you can opt for our express delivery service which is not operated by Royal Mail should you need to secure a fast delivery.

PDC EMEA becomes part of Green Growth Programme for sustainable businesses in the UK

By PDC 6 May 2022

For the last few years, the UK factory of PDC EMEA has been a part of the Made in Britain (MiB) association. MiB is a growing community of Britain’s manufacturers applying protected, collective marks to products, packaging, websites and social media. By joining, PDC EMEA made it clear to consumers that their name badge products are manufactured in Britain to the very highest standards.

Due to the UK government's mandate for every business to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, MiB initiated the Green Growth Programme to help businesses advance their progress towards being more sustainable. The program provides businesses with a benchmark to understand where they rank amongst their peers, where there is a need for improvement and where they excel and can aid others in the community. As an MiB member, PDC EMEA was invited to take the specifically designed Green Growth survey to see where they ranked among other members.

PDC EMEA demonstrated its sustainability initiatives through its eco-friendly products, such as name badges made from sustainable and recyclable materials. They have also been looking into environmentally friendly solutions for their packaging and reviewing their manufacturing processes to make them more efficient. All this combined with PDC EMEA’s high scores in governance, customer engagement and accreditations, helped them rank in the top 25 percent of companies who took the survey.
